Jason Ryan Animation - The Basics

I've done all of the basics Jason Ryan tutorials and here's the Flipbook result of it :) Working in 2d is a lot of fun and it's amazing how much I feel that I've learned already from looking over his shoulder. I totally recommend it!

  1. Hey Martin, been following your blog for quite a while. I'm just starting with animation, do you think the JRA tutorials are a good start? First I want to finnish read the 2 animation bibles and throw my self on these. or is there something "better" to start with?

  2. Hi Edwin

Yeah, JRA is definitely a good start, cause you get it all explained in a very clear way. You can only get "so" much from reading a book and while I think the Illusion of Life is a must read, it's a little too deep to be the only learning source when you first start out. The Richard Williams book are better in that sense I think. (only my opinion tho). Signing up for Animation Mentor would be a "better" way, but that said, you get a lot out of your money by following the JRA tutorials.

    Hope it helps.

You are doing great by the way.

I take advantage of this oporttunity to congrat for your short film and graduation (never is too late :P) and for the great job you are doing gathering great sources and information about animation in this blog.
